Hit 100 pages in one sitting for the first time and it felt weird

I'm not a fast reader, usually 20-30 pages is my limit before I get distracted. But last night I sat down with "Piranesi" by Susanna Clarke and suddenly it was 1am and I was on page 112. I think the house descriptions just hooked me in a way that felt like exploring a real place. Has anyone else had a book just grab you like that out of nowhere?

Oh man, 20-30 pages is where I LIVE, I get distracted by literally everything, my own breathing sometimes. The fact that Piranesi just sucked you in like that is amazing but also kind of scary, like the book has some kind of weird power over your brain. Same thing happened to me with "The Name of the Wind" where I blinked and suddenly it was 3am and my phone was dead. Now I have to hide books like that from MYSELF or I'll never sleep again.

Wait, are you telling me I should be worried about a book having some kinda supernatural hold over me? Because @scott.alex just convinced me Piranesi is basically hypnotic witchcraft and now I'm not sure I wanna find out.

I read somewhere that Piranesi was actually written during a long illness, so maybe that's why it feels so dreamy and hypnotic.
