I swore I hated 'The Great Gatsby' until our club's host brought in a 1920s playlist

We were discussing it at Sarah's place in Chicago, and she played period jazz softly in the background. Hearing that music while we talked about the parties made the whole book feel different, like I was actually there. I went from thinking it was just rich people problems to seeing the desperate energy underneath it all. Has a specific detail like music or food ever completely flipped a book for your group?

That old warehouse party last month had the lights dimmed real low with red bulbs. Whole place just felt different, quieter in a good way. People were actually talking to each other instead of screaming over music. Atmosphere is everything. Makes or breaks the night, no question.

Yeah, @mason273, it really does. What's the biggest change you've seen it make?
