I swore I hated 'The Great Gatsby' until our club's host brought in a 1920s playlist

We were discussing it at Sarah's place in Chicago, and she played period jazz softly in the background. Hearing that music while we talked about the parties made the whole book feel different, like I was actually there. That old warehouse party last month had the lights dimmed real low with red bulbs. Whole place just felt different, quieter in a good way. People were actually talking to each other instead of screaming over music. Atmosphere is everything. Makes or breaks the night, no question.
