Just found out my book club has been debating the wrong ending of a novel for 3 months

I was scrolling through the author's website last night and discovered the original manuscript had a completely different final chapter that got cut by the publisher, and now I'm wondering if our entire argument about the main character's fate was based on a lie, has anyone else had their book club debate derailed by a shocking fact like this?

I just found out" is a bit misleading since you learned it from the author's website, not just randomly found out.

You ever have someone call you out like that for how you worded something? I just went through the same thing last week when I said I "stumbled on" a wiring code update when I actually saw it in a trade newsletter. Now I just say "found out from" to save myself the headache.

@andrew_baker9 Have you ever caught yourself doing the same thing (using a vague phrase) without noticing?
