My book club's 'no spoilers' rule backfired hard last Thursday
Our moderator, Carla, told everyone to skip the last 50 pages before the discussion so we could talk about the ending 'fresh'. I followed her advice, showed up, and three people openly spoiled the whole thing by page two of the meeting. Now I'm torn on whether that rule even makes sense for a book like The Goldfinch, where the journey matters more than the twist. Has anyone else had a moderator's system blow up like that, or do your clubs just accept spoilers as part of the deal?
