Our book club hit a wall over 'The Startup Wife' and work stress
We just read that book for our monthly meet. Half the group thinks it shows the real pressure of running a business. The other half says it makes startup life look too easy. I own a small roofing company, so I see where both sides are coming from. How do other clubs deal with books about jobs and careers?

Lol, our club almost came to blows over a book on office politics last year. @adamclark has the right idea picking messy workplaces on purpose. It makes everyone admit their own jobs are just as bad, so no one can say the book is wrong. Now we just fight about who has the worst boss, which is way more fun.

Ever argue about how true to life a job book is? My club picks stories with messy workplaces on purpose. It gets us past the easy debates.

Reading about your book club almost fighting over office politics is wild. Honestly, I can't believe it got that heated over a book. Adamclark has a point though, picking messy workplaces probably gets people really talking. It's crazy how stories about bad jobs can make everyone so fired up. But almost coming to blows? That's next level.
