Our book club turned into a ghost story debate for 45 minutes straight

Last month we read "The Silent Patient" and someone swore the main character was a ghost the whole time. I checked my watch - 45 minutes of arguing over something that's clearly not true. The book makes it obvious she's real. We didn't even get to talk about the twist ending or the therapy stuff. Has anyone else had a debate like this where one person just won't let go of a wrong theory?

Hold on, let me play devil's advocate here and say the ghost theory actually makes more sense than you think.

Yeah cause ghosts are known for leaving zero evidence except when someone's filming on a potato.

Totally agree, that's EXACTLY what I've been trying to say. I had a thing happen at my grandma's old house where we heard footsteps going up the stairs clear as day but nobody was there. My cousin even had her phone out filming at the time and the video just showed a weird static blur right where the sound was coming from. Stuff like that makes you wonder how science can explain a sound with no source.
