Our club picked a 400 page doorstopper for December and only 3 people finished it, meeting was a disaster
We met at Carol's place on Tuesday in Bend and what was supposed to be a 90 minute talk turned into 25 minutes of people admitting they skimmed the last 200 pages. My friend Dave actually pulled up Cliff's Notes on his phone at the table, which started a whole fight about whether that even counts as reading the book. Now half the group wants to go back to shorter picks under 300 pages while the other half says we are dumbing it down. How do you all handle it when someone clearly did not read the book, do you call them out or just let it slide?
