Pro tip: bring a timer to book club or you'll spend 90 minutes on chapter 3
At our Thursday night meetup in Portland last month, a lady named Deb kept derailing us into her theories about the author's childhood, and we never got past page 60 of a 300 page novel. By the time the cafe kicked us out at 9, four people were mad at each other over a plot point nobody could even remember right. Does your group use a timer, or do you just let the loudest person steer the whole night?

Doesn't the timer just make people rush instead of keeping things fair? We tried one and ended up cutting off the best parts just to hit a page count.
