Reached 500 books in my reading journal and my book club laughed at me

I hit 500 books logged in my reading journal last week and when I told my book club, they thought I was bragging. But the real debate was over whether graphic novels should count towards that number. Has anyone else had this weird milestone argument in their group?

Got into a similar thing with my D&D group when I said I'd read 40 comics that month and they argued if those count as actual reading. I mean, the words and stories are right there on the page, just with pictures too. Idk why some people get so hung up on the format.

My buddy Mike told me he read 12 graphic novels last month and his book club gave him grief about it. He just shrugged and said he remembers the story better because of the art.
