That $85 annotated classic I bought for one chapter

I mean, I got so hyped on the footnotes in a review that I dropped $85 on a fancy annotated edition at a shop in Portland, only to realize I only needed it for like one dense chapter on symbolism. The rest of the book I read fine on my library copy. Has anyone else overpaid for a single scene's explanation and then felt kinda dumb?

Oh man, that stings. It's like buying the whole movie just for the deleted scenes on the special features disc. I did the same thing with a poetry collection once, paid way too much for a version with a huge intro, and I only flipped through that part for like ten minutes. The rest was just the same poems I could have gotten for free online. Feels a little silly but honestly, the pretty cover made my shelf look nice for a while, so at least there's that.
