That librarian who told me to 'just read the last chapter first' was actually right

I was stuck on a dense non-fiction book about the Cold War for three weeks, so I tried her trick and suddenly the whole thing clicked into place. Has anyone else ever successfully used a weird reading hack someone swore by?

Started reading a thick book about the Roman Empire once. Someone told me to read the conclusion first so I knew where it was going. Worked way better than I expected.

Ngl the "just read the last chapter first" trick is basically cheating at reading and I love it. Tried it on a boring history book about the silk road after getting stuck on chapter four for a month. Next thing I knew, I was flying through the whole thing like I had a map of the ending in my head. Only downside is now my friends think I'm a psycho for reading books backwards.

Started doing this with a massive book on ancient Egypt and honestly it felt like cheating at first. Got some weird looks from a librarian who saw me flipping to the last page before I even sat down. But hey, whatever keeps me from abandoning another book in chapter three is a win in my book.
