TIL our book club kept missing the point of 'The Great Gatsby' because we focused on the wrong character.
We spent 45 minutes last month arguing if Gatsby was a good guy, but my English teacher friend said the real debate is about Nick's unreliable narration and how it changes the whole story. I reread the first chapter and now I see all the clues we skipped. Has your club ever had a big fight because you were looking at a book the wrong way?

Oh man, that feeling is the WORST. My cousin had a similar thing happen with a car repair last year, total nightmare. They quoted her one price and the final bill was almost double.

That's why I always read the introduction last.

Isn't it crazy how many things work like that now? Like you get the basic price upfront but all the real costs are hidden in the fine print. It happens with phone bills, streaming services, even buying concert tickets. Feels like you need a detective's license just to figure out what you're actually paying for, lol.
