My old washi tape stash finally let me down after 4 years

I've been bullet journaling since 2018, and I always relied on this one roll of washi tape from a random craft store in Portland to mark my monthly tabs. Last week it just peeled right off the page, no stick left at all. I tried a bit of glue stick under it but that made the paper wrinkle. Has anyone else had their older supplies fail on them, or am I the only one hanging onto stuff that long?

Hold on, maybe the tape wasn't the problem. Could be the paper you used that year soaked up the adhesive or something. Old tape usually gets stickier with time, not less, unless it dried out weird. Plus, four years is barely breaking it in for supplies. I got rolls from 2016 that still hold like crazy. Sounds like that specific batch just sucked, not that shelf life is real for everything.

Saw a video where a crafter said adhesive shelf life is real, especially if it sits in heat. Four years is a good run for cheap tape, sounds like the glue finally gave up.
