My whole weekly spread got wrecked by a leaky water bottle

I left my journal open on the kitchen table in Portland last Thursday, and my kid's bottle tipped over right on it. The pages for my entire week were a soggy, inky mess. I had to quickly copy what I could save onto sticky notes and tape them into a fresh notebook. Has anyone else had to do a fast rescue job like that?

My cousin's coffee spill taught me to use waterproof pens.

Three years ago my car floor mat soaked up a whole 24 ounce water bottle during a rainstorm and I lost a month of work notes. I actually switched to a waterproof notebook after that disaster, the brand is called Rite in the Rain if you want something that dries out fine. @ray562 is right about the pens though, even a waterproof notebook is useless if your ink runs. For what it's worth, I started keeping a digital photo backup of my journal every Sunday morning just in case something like this happens again.

Did you manage to salvage your important notes? My friend had her whole gym bag flood and her training log got soaked, she ended up taking pictures of each page before they dried all stuck together. It was a total mess but at least she saved the info.
