TIL that sketching tiny pictures beats long lists for my daily log

I always wrote out my tasks in full sentences, which took forever. Last week, I tried drawing little icons instead. Like a cup for coffee break, a book for reading time. It was so much faster. Now my journal looks cleaner and I get through my day quicker. I used to stress about making it perfect, but simple shapes work fine. This small change made bullet journaling fun again. I guess sometimes less really is more.

Wait, you mean drawing little pictures is faster than writing out full sentences for your tasks? I always figured that was just for kids, but it probably saves a lot of time. Maybe I should try it before I dismiss it as too simple.

My old journal had full sentences until last Tuesday.

Last month, I read that visual cues can boost memory recall by nearly 40% over plain text. @bell.felix's point about saving time fits, but in my experience, the real benefit is how a simple sketch, like a dumbbell for the gym, makes the task feel more real and doable. Your mileage may vary, but it shifts your journal from just planning to priming your brain for action. It's a small change with a big mental pay-off, in my view.

Oh man, that totally reminds me of when I tried to make a map for my grocery list. I drew little apples and milk cartons, but I got so into the drawing I forgot to actually write "bread". @emma_jackson21, I feel your pain about the full sentences, it's so easy to overthink it. I ended up just doing a loaf of bread with a question mark next to it.
