Why do people swear by a 3 month spread when mine falls apart by week 2?

I set up this fancy quarterly layout in January, color coded and everything, but by February 9th I switched back to my daily log because half the pages were blank. Am I missing some trick to make long range planning actually stick, or is it just not for everyone?

Oh man, I feel this so hard. I tried the whole quarterly spread once and it looked great for a week, then life just laughed at my color coding. Some of us are built for the daily grind, and that's okay, you just gotta work with your own brain.
