Client asked for 'something creative' then rejected every single idea

Had a guy last month. Wanted a new logo. Said he needed it to 'pop'. Gave him 8 options. Different styles. Color palettes. He said no to all of them. Then asked for a 'flying cat' concept. I drew it up. He said it looked stupid. Charged him for 15 hours. He fought the invoice. Never again.

Alice, how many rounds did that back and forth go before you finally got something they actually liked? Was it a specific detail that eventually clicked with them, or did a total random idea somehow work? Curious because I've had clients who couldn't verbalize what they wanted, and it always ended up being some weird last-minute gut feeling that saved the project.

Used to roll my eyes at these stories until it happened to me.

@aliceharris you probably feel like a fool now, right? It's funny how quick we are to judge until we're the ones in the hot seat. Life sure has a way of humbling people.
