Client sent me 47 emails in one day over a font color change
Last Thursday I had a client from Phoenix blow up my inbox from 6 AM to midnight because the shade of blue on their landing page header was slightly off on their phone, and by the end of the day I had 3 new gray hairs and zero dollars extra for the 12 revisions they demanded before 5 PM.

Honestly that's when you start billing by the reply.

Called it right there Barbara. Had a client just like that last year who treated every email like a group text. Every single thing I sent got a "Sounds good" or "Will do" reply and it was driving me insane. Finally just set up my billing so they got charged per reply and suddenly they figured out how to consolidate their thoughts into one message. Sometimes you gotta make the bad habit hurt their wallet a little bit.

Right! That's the only way to train people out of that habit. Had a client once who would reply to every single email with "Got it" or "Okay" and that was it. Finally sent them a polite note saying we'd moved to a reply-only billing model and suddenly they started writing actual responses or just didn't reply at all. Saved me hours of inbox clutter every week.
