Client wanted me to copy a competitor's website pixel for pixel

Had a client in Phoenix last month who handed me a printout of their competitor's site and said just make mine look exactly like this but with my logo. I tried to explain that Google penalizes duplicate content and they'd get zero organic traffic. They got defensive and said I was making excuses to charge more. I walked away from $3,200 because I refuse to build something that gets people sued or banned. Has anyone else had a client who straight up asked you to plagiarize another business's online presence?
