Had a chat with a plumber who made me realize I overcomplicate my freelance work

So I'm at a BBQ last week and this plumber guy starts telling me about his clients. He said 'I charge $150 just to show up, and if they argue I walk.' Then he told me he never emails contracts or does revisions. Just shows up, fixes it, gets paid. Meanwhile I'm out here doing 3 rounds of revisions for a $200 flyer and answering emails at 10pm. It hit me that I'm the one letting clients run my schedule, not the other way around. Has anyone else had a convo with someone in a totally different field that made you rethink your whole approach?

Is it really the same thing though @davidshah?

Wait, is it really that simple though? I used to roll my eyes at the whole trades vs. college debate, but hearing it put that way actually makes a lot of sense. Kind of humbling to admit I was wrong about that one.

Yeah man, it's wild how the trades figured out respect long before the rest of us did...
