Had a client demand unlimited revisions after I used a contract loophole in Chicago

I wrote "3 rounds of revisions" in my graphic design contract but didn't specify per project or per month. A client in Chicago took that to mean unlimited changes for 6 months straight. Now I write it as "3 revision rounds total" with an end date. Has anyone else gotten burned by vague wording like that?

Chicago here too actually. I had a client try to pull the same thing with "unlimited" in a web design contract. Now I put "3 revision rounds total after initial mockup approval, expires 30 days from that date" right in the signature block. It seems petty but I had to learn the hard way that specific dates are your best friend. Also I add a line about new revision rounds costing $150 each after that. That little change saved my sanity on the next project, seriously.

Used to think vague wording gave me wiggle room too but this post changed my mind. Gonna rewrite my contracts this weekend.

Yeah but vague wording can also backfire on you in court real quick.
