Lost $400 on a client who wanted 'unlimited revisions'

I agreed to a flat rate for a logo design with unlimited revisions, thinking it'd be fine. After 8 rounds of tiny tweaks over 3 months, I made maybe $50 an hour before giving up. Has anyone else had success limiting revision rounds in their contracts?

Learned that lesson the hard way too. Now I just tell people "unlimited" means until I lose my mind, which is usually around round 3.

Until I lose my mind" - yeah, that's about right. I've had clients who didn't even realize they were abusing the system until I hit that wall and had to be blunt with them. @park.aaron, that 30 day cap idea makes a lot of sense, actually. Do you find people actually respect that timeline or do they just cram all their changes into the last week?

Man, that's rough. $400 for 3 months of tweaks? I mean, did you end up giving them the final files after you gave up, or did you just walk away? Because I feel like that's the real nightmare - they get all the work and you get nothing. Idk maybe I'm wrong but it seems like unlimited revisions only works if you cap the time, not just the number of rounds. Like what if you said "unlimited for 30 days" instead?
