Old project files that ate a whole weekend
Got handed a backup from a client who had been through three agencies before me, and their file naming made zero sense. It took me two full days just to figure out which version was actually the latest, way longer than the actual design work. Has anyone else had to dig through someone's digital junk drawer like that?

Laughing at "digital junk drawer" because that's exactly what it is. Found a project once where the client had files named "FINAL_v2_REAL_FINAL_PLEASE" and "draft_old_do not use" that were actually the same date. Ended up opening every single file and checking the modification timestamps in a panic, which somehow felt less reliable than reading tea leaves. At least the coffee was still hot by the time I gave up and just asked the client which one they remembered sending to the printer.
