Showerthought: got burned by a handshake deal at a coffee shop in Tulsa and now I wonder if paper is always better
Two years ago I met a shop owner at a coffee place in Tulsa and agreed on $1,500 of work with just a handshake, no paperwork. He paid half, ghosted me on the rest, and I had no written scope to point to. Was I dumb for trusting the handshake, or is asking for a simple one page agreement just smart business these days?
