Everyone told me to just write my own contracts, but after one too many scope creep nightmares I bought a lawyer-reviewed template bundle for freelancers. The difference is night and day. It has specific language about revision limits and late fees that I never thought to include. Last month a client tried to pull the 'can you just tweak this' routine and I pointed to the signed doc. They backed off immediately. Worth every penny for the peace of mind alone. Has anyone else found that spending money on legal templates paid off better than trying to draft things yourself?

Three clients in the last month have tried to slide extra work past me, and every single time I just screenshot the section about scope and send it back with a period at the end. People treat boundaries like they're negotiable until they see something that looks official. Same thing happens when I ask contractors to put a price in writing before they start, suddenly they stop adding random fees. It's not about the template being magic, it's about having proof that you're not making rules up on the spot.
