Spent $500 on a contract lawyer and it saved my business from a nightmare client
I had a client who kept asking for way more work than we agreed on, so I paid a lawyer to write a solid contract before we started. When they tried to sue me for not doing free extra work, the contract shut it down fast. Honestly, is it worth the upfront cost to get legal help, or do you just use your own templates?

My uncle lost his house over a verbal agreement.

My cousin skipped a home inspection to save cash and now has a massive mold problem. Cutting corners on important stuff always costs more later. A good contract is just like that inspection.

That lawyer fee is basically insurance, and yours paid off big time. The thing about templates is they can miss specific risks for your type of work. A good lawyer doesn't just write a contract, they ask questions you wouldn't think to ask yourself. I'd say the upfront cost is almost always worth it compared to the time and money a lawsuit wastes, even if you win.
