That client who wanted me to redo a roof for free because the shingles looked 'slightly different' in the sun

I had a homeowner in Phoenix last summer who signed off on the color samples and everything (I even waited for a sunny day to show him). Three weeks after we finished, he called saying the roof looked 'off' around 4 PM and demanded I tear it all off and redo it with a different brand. Has anyone else dealt with a client who tried to argue about material color after they already approved the final sample?

Maybe the real issue is the angle of the sun hitting those new shingles differently than the old ones.

Oh come on, that's actually a really good point I hadn't even thought of. The angle of the sun can totally make shingles look way different depending on how they're laid. My neighbor had the exact same problem last year where his roof looked all patchy from certain spots but fine from others. It's one of those things where you don't really notice it until the sun hits it just right and then suddenly it's all you can see. Could be worth checking the color contrast at different times of day to see if that's really what's going on.

Stand outside and look at it from three different times of day first.
