The scope sheet I used to hate just saved my whole project

I used to think writing a detailed scope sheet was a waste of time, especially for small jobs. But last month a client in Austin kept adding little extras, like 'oh just tweak the section header' and 'can you also fix the footer'. After 4 extra rounds I was about to lose it. Then I tried sending a simple bullet list of what was included and what cost extra, and they backed off instantly. It was like magic, they saw the list and actually confirmed it in writing. Has anyone else found that a boring checklist beats arguing every time?
