Thought I was getting scammed but the client actually came through

Had this one client from Denver who wanted me to handle a massive rodent problem in this old warehouse. They kept dodging my calls for 3 weeks after I sent the quote. I was sure I’d have to eat the cost of the supplies. Then out of nowhere they sent a check for $1,200 with a note saying sorry for the delay. Anyone else have a client ghost you and then pay out of the blue like that?

Guess I see it differently, since a check out of nowhere like that could still be a fake one that bounces in a few days. I'd hold off on cashing it until the bank confirms it's good.

3 business days is the sweet spot I've heard too, since most banks won't flag a fake until it's been sitting for at least that long. I'd probably wait a full week just to be extra sure.

Wait, do people really still send paper checks for pest control work? I had one company insist on mailing me a check for like a $50 consultation and it took two weeks to get here from across town.
