Update: I fired my worst client last month and my whole week changed
I used to think you just eat the bad clients because the money is the money, and then I dropped a guy in April who called me at 11pm on a Saturday about a Facebook post. Three weeks later I picked up two referrals from people who said they heard I actually answer my phone at normal times, and I made $600 less that month but slept like a rock. Has anyone else tracked what happens to their bookings after they cut a client loose, or is it just luck on my end?
So I made $600 less that month but slept like a rock." Okay but you still made $600 less. Two referrals don't mean much unless they actually turned into paying work. I've dropped bad clients before and sometimes nothing happens, sometimes it helps, sometimes you just lose the money. The 11pm Saturday call thing is annoying but is that really bad enough to fire someone over? Sounds like you could've just set a boundary and kept the cash.
