Just realized my mentor was right about never sending a quote without a phone call first
Ignored his advice for a year, lost a $15k project last month because the client felt my email was 'cold and transactional', so now I call every single time.

But what if the client prefers email because they need everything in writing to share with their team? I've had jobs where my detailed email quote actually won me the work because it was clear and they could forward it around. Maybe the real issue was the wording in that one email, not the fact it was sent instead of a call. Couldn't you just make your written quotes feel more personal and friendly? Some people really hate unexpected phone calls during their workday.

My last email quote was three pages of bullet points.
