Pro tip: Stop saying 'yes' to every revision request

Last Tuesday, I let a client drag me through 8 rounds of edits on a simple landing page. They kept changing the font size every email, and I didn't push back because I thought it kept them happy. Three years ago, I set a rule: three rounds max, and anything extra costs $50 per round. Has anyone else had to draw a hard line like that to keep projects from spiraling?

My buddy runs a small web dev shop and he caps it at 2 revisions with a 48 hour turnaround per round. He tells clients straight up that anything after that is scope creep and costs extra. He lost one client over it but the rest of his projects stopped bleeding time and money. His quality actually went up because he wasn't burnt out redoing the same button color 6 times. That 3 round rule you set is solid, stick to it and don't feel bad about it.

Man, that's exactly the move. Setting clear boundaries upfront saves everyone headaches, and losing one client is way better than bleeding out on a dozen projects.

Haha, @ray613 knows what's up, I've definitely been that guy redoing a button color six times!
