Sat in on a client meeting at a diner back in 2017 and it broke my whole system

I used to do everything over email and phone. Thought that was the professional way. Then a guy I sub for invited me to meet a property manager at this old diner off Route 9. Client talked about his kids, complained about the cold coffee, cracked jokes. By the time we got to the actual tree work, he was easy to deal with. I saw how just being a person instead of a vendor changed the whole vibe. Ever had a face to face meeting totally flip a difficult client around?

Yeah, that's the thing. A diner meeting in 2017 was probably the last time coffee was affordable, not a professional breakthrough.
