Is paying for client management software actually worth it? I dropped $300 on a platform and got mixed results.

I spent $300 on a client portal tool last spring after getting fed up with endless email chains and lost files. First 3 months it was a dream - clients could upload specs, I could send invoices, everything in one place. But then two clients complained it was too complicated and they just wanted to text me like before. I ended up spending extra hours walking them through it, which kind of defeated the purpose. The tool itself worked fine, but it created this weird divide where tech savvy clients loved it and older ones hated it. Has anyone else tried a system like this and found a way to make it work for all personality types, or did you just dump it after a few months?

Did you try making a simplified mobile-friendly version just for them?

Some older folks really do better with simpler layouts and bigger text though. Maybe @abbyhall is onto something with stripping it down to just the basics for that audience.

My uncle tried that for his lawn care site and nobody used it anyway.
