Old school client meeting at a diner near Omaha changed my workflow

I used to meet clients at this old diner on route 6 back in 2018, and we'd hash out details over bad coffee. One guy showed up with a handwritten list of demands on a napkin, and I spent the whole night untangling it. Has anyone else had a face to face meeting that straight up bombed?

That napkin story is painful. I once brought a whole printed proposal to a meeting and the client used it to clean up spilled ketchup.

Man, I had a buddy who did freelance graphic design and drove two hours to meet a guy at a dive bar. Client showed up drunk, kept ordering wings, and then said he "didn't really have a budget" after they'd talked pricing for a week. Took him three months to get paid for that mess.

Was it really that bad though?
