Showerthought: I used to just send a final invoice, but now I send a project wrap-up email with a link to the invoice and payment reminders dropped by 80%.

Yeah, that makes total sense. I read a blog post once that called it "closing the loop" for the client. It's like you're showing them the whole story from start to finish, not just slapping them with a bill. It reminds them of what they actually paid for, you know? @the_thomas, I get why it seemed like extra work, but that context you mentioned is everything. It turns a cold transaction into part of the service. I started doing a quick summary of what we did and linking to the final files, and payments just started coming in faster.

Exactly. That "closing the loop" thing is real. @drew_walker hit it right with the "we need to text" comparison, it's the same vibe. I started adding a one liner like "Here is the final version of the logo you approved last week" right in the invoice subject line. It cut my follow up emails by like half, honestly. People just need that little nudge to remember what they're paying for.

I always thought that was extra work for no reason, but I guess the context really helps.

Honestly, it's like we all used to just mail people a check and then get mad when they didn't know what it was for. Tbh, sending just an invoice is basically the business version of texting someone "we need to talk" with no other info. No wonder they ignored it.
