Had a client ask for a 'tiny color change' on their branding last Friday at 4pm. I said sure, stupid me, thinking it would take 20 minutes. Turned out they wanted the new shade across every social template, print file, and invoice PDF, and they kept sending screenshots of 'inspiration' that looked nothing like their brand. By Sunday night I'd sunk about 14 hours into it, plus I missed my kid's soccer game. What finally flipped me? I realized the retainer they pay me monthly doesn't cover scope creep like this, and my freelancer friend charges a rush fee that's 50% extra. I sent them a revised invoice and they paid it without a peep, so now I put 'revisions' limits in every contract. Has anyone else had a client treat a small tweak as a free pass for endless edits?
