Appreciation post: That 24 hour deadline trick from the sub actually saved my lease renewal
My landlord tried to sneak a 3% late fee clause into the renewal on Friday, but I caught it using the waiting period trick you guys mentioned. Sent back a counter offer with a 7 day grace period and he caved by Monday, has anyone else used that to kill hidden auto-renewals?

The "waiting period trick" part got me, because I used to think those posts were just people overthinking things. Landlords are busy, they don't have time to play games, that was my old take. But then my gym tried to auto-renew me with a price bump and I sat on the new contract for a few days without signing. They called me back with the original rate and a free month, which felt way too easy. Now I see why waiting works, it gives them time to get nervous and drop the sketchy stuff.
