Just realized my 'force majeure' clause saved me from a $12k hit when a supplier went under

I always thought it was just boilerplate until a concrete admixture company folded last Tuesday and my contract's specific wording let me cancel the order without penalty, so what other 'standard' clauses have you guys actually had to use?

That indemnification clause is no joke either. Had a sub-contractor mess up some electrical work that caused property damage. Their insurance tried to weasel out, but our contract's indemnity language made them cover the whole repair bill.

Man, that's why fine print actually matters sometimes.

Ross.felix is right about that. Indemnity clauses are a lifesaver. Seen a client get burned by a weak one last year. Their vendor's mistake cost them thousands out of pocket. Solid contract language is the only real protection.

Wait, their insurance actually tried to get out of it? That's insane. I've dealt with insurance adjusters before and I know they'll look for any excuse to deny a claim, but that takes some nerve. So basically without that clause you'd have been on the hook for the whole thing? Makes me want to go back and re-read every contract I've ever signed with my eyes wide open this time. Were you guys able to enforce it fast or did they drag it out for months?
