Shoutout to the subcontractor in Dallas who pointed out a vague 'force majeure' clause in my supply agreement last Tuesday.

He argued it only covered 'acts of God' like floods, but I think it should also cover material shortages from a port strike, so what specific terms do you all add to yours?

Acts of God" lol, my last contract was so vague I think it only covered actual lightning bolts from the sky. I got burned once and now my lawyer adds a whole list, like strikes, transport issues, and government stuff. Basically if it's a mess I can't control, it's in there. Makes the clause about three pages long, but it saves the headache later.

Was that vague clause why you got burned before?

Yeah, "actual lightning bolts from the sky" is such a perfect way to put it. I felt that in my soul. Getting burned once by vague wording is the worst teacher, but it sure does teach you. My lawyer's list sounds a lot like yours now, just pages of every possible disaster we could think of.
