Signed a storage unit lease in Mesa and the late fee clause bit me for $95 on day 3
I was cleaning out my mom's garage in Mesa last month and grabbed a 10x10 unit at one of those places off Main, signed the lease on my lunch break without reading past the rent amount. I paid on the 4th because my shift schedule got flipped, and day 3 late means they hit me with a $95 fee plus a $20 admin charge, which is way steeper than the $12 late fee I had at my old place in Chandler. Now I'm stuck debating whether to push back at the office or just eat it, since the clause technically says fees apply on day one and the manager keeps pointing at the fine print. So here's my question: is it smarter to fight a fee this small or just pay and keep the peace, and has anyone gotten a storage place to waive one by asking nicely?
