I skimmed over it thinking it was standard boilerplate, then the homeowner demanded $1,200 off because my tile guy was 3 days late due to a supply delay. Anyone else gotten stung by a clause that sounded harmless but turned into a weapon?

Same vibe with those "time is of the essence" clauses - they pretend to be friendly but are basically a trap waiting to spring. Saw a buddy get hit with a late fee on his rental lease because he paid on the 5th instead of the 1st, and the contract said a 24 hour grace period but he missed it by one day. People just assume the standard stuff won't be enforced harshly, but companies and homeowners know exactly how to use it against you when it's convenient for them.

Yeah I used to think people were just being dramatic about fine print, but your buddy's story really hits home. Guess I've been lucky so far, but it's definitely got me thinking twice now.
