That force majeure clause in my Austin studio lease caught me off guard last winter
I was reviewing my studio rental contract for a photo shoot space in Austin and noticed they had a force majeure clause that listed 'acts of God' but missed stuff like power outages or internet failures. Turns out when the winter storm hit, I was stuck paying for days I couldn't even get to the building. Has anyone else found these clauses bury vague terms that hurt you?

Wait, don't those clauses usually cover weather though?

Tbh does anyone actually read those clauses before signing? I'm betting most people just skim and hope nothing bad happens. Have you ever had one of those clauses actually work out for you?

Wait, you're actually admitting you just skim those things? I got burned so bad once because I didn't read the clause about "weather-related delays" and it turned out they could cancel for like a light drizzle. Now I literally read every single word even if it takes forever. Learned my lesson the hard way.
