A guy in Chiang Mai told me my work setup was too loud for cafes

He said my keyboard clicks were like a woodpecker and it was bothering people trying to focus. I switched to a silent keyboard and started using a library co-working space instead of busy coffee shops. Has anyone else had to change their gear or spot because of noise?

Oh man, totally! I got the same look once and felt so bad I bought those little rubber keyboard covers.

Remember that awful sinking feeling? I bought the quietest mouse on the market the next day. Adam414 is right about picking your spot, but sometimes you just need to plug in and don't have a choice. Those rubber covers are a solid fix for when you're stuck in the middle of everything.

Honestly, the whole noise thing made me start watching where I sit. If you're tucked in a back corner near the milk station, you're probably fine with a normal keyboard. Camping at the prime central table with the loudest gear is a different story. It's less about the gear and more about picking your spot with some basic awareness.

Oh man, I am the queen of picking bad spots apparently. Bought one of those mechanical keyboards that sounds like a typewriter having a panic attack, sat right in the middle of the quiet zone first day. Got the death glare from like three people at once, felt about two inches tall. Now I scope out a place like I'm planning a heist, checking every power outlet and seeing who's already there before I even unzip my bag. Guess my brain just shorts out when I get to pick a table and I go full dumb mode.
