A power outage in Chiang Mai made me finally fix my backup internet setup
I've been working from Chiang Mai for about 7 months now and last Tuesday the power went out on my whole soi for almost 5 hours. My phone hotspot kept me going but I burned through 2GB in one Zoom call and my client thought I froze 3 times. A guy at the coworking space on Nimman told me he runs a cheap dual SIM setup with one local and one Thai data plan for backup, so I copied it the next day. Spent 890 baht total and now I have a second connection that kicks in when the wifi drops. Honestly should have done this 6 months ago instead of just hoping my cafe had a generator. Anyone else here run a backup plan for outages or do you just roll with it?
