My laptop charger fried itself from a power surge in Chiang Mai last month and I had to finish a client report using my phone's hotspot at a 7-Eleven.

Has anyone else had gear get wrecked by bad power in a specific city, and what do you pack now to stop it?

Lost a hard drive in Bangkok that way, felt that pain. I pack a basic surge protector now, the cheap ones from the airport. What do you use?

Power strips are just more stuff to lose.

But I actually find them super easy to keep track of. I just leave them plugged in where I need them, like behind the TV or under my desk. They become a permanent part of that spot. It's the loose cables that always disappear on me, not the actual power strip.

More stuff to lose" is too real. I swear they just vanish. I have a dedicated drawer for them now.
