There was a piece in The Atlantic last month about people who live in vans and tiny homes by choice, and the numbers were wild. One guy said he spends about 800 bucks a month total, and that includes food, gas, and a gym membership for showers. My rent for a one bedroom is more than double that and I still have a roommate. The thing is, most of these people aren't broke, they just got tired of paying half their paycheck for a roof. I get why it bugs people though, because it's not like everyone can just up and do that. Still, 800 a month sounds pretty nice right about now.
