Showerthought: My $50 portable router in Bangkok was a total hero

The hotel wifi died right before a big client call, but that little gadget kept me online. Anyone got a backup plan for when the local internet just quits?

Ever think about just using your phone's hotspot? I never bother with extra gadgets.

My old phone plan had terrible hotspot data, so I always thought these things were a waste. Then I got stuck in a Denver airport lounge with a dead public network and a report due. Borrowed a coworker's portable router and it saved my whole afternoon. Now I keep one in my bag, no question. It just works when everything else fails.

Portable routers are lifesavers. I always pack mine now after getting stuck in a cafe with dead wifi. It turns any phone sim into a personal hotspot for my laptop. The peace of mind is worth way more than the cost. I even used it on a train once to finish some work.

Get a power bank too, mine died right when I needed it most.
