Stumbled on a free tool that routes calls through WhatsApp while I'm hopping countries
I was losing clients because my US number kept dropping calls in Bali, so I tried Google Voice with a VPN and it worked for about a week before they blocked it, has anyone found a reliable way to keep one number active without paying $30 a month for a virtual office?

and honestly the free options are all a gamble with your business on the line. I tried the Google Voice VPN thing too and it worked for a few weeks then just started giving me errors. WhatsApp routing is clever but you're still depending on someone else's free servers. The only thing that actually stuck for me was a basic paid VoIP plan for like $8 a month. No dropped calls, no getting blocked, and clients see the same US number every time. It's not flashy but it just works and that's really what matters when you're trying to make money.

Yeah "kept dropping calls in Bali" hit home, I used to think free tools were fine until I lost a big client too.

@robin896 that "lost a big client" part really got me. I used to be the guy who thought paying for phone service was a scam, but after missing two solid leads because my free number got flagged as spam, I finally shelled out for a proper VoIP service. Totally changed my outlook, sometimes you gotta pay a little to keep making money.
