Tried coworking in a hostel common room for a week and got zero work done
Ngl I thought it would be a cheap way to save money while traveling through Chiang Mai last month. The Wi-Fi was fine during the day but people kept trying to chat with me about their travels every 15 minutes. I learned that hostel common rooms are for socializing not working unless you wear headphones that scream 'do not talk to me'. Has anyone else found a real cheap workspace that actually works?

Lol yeah that's basically a trap, hostel common rooms are built for chatting not focusing. Hit up a local library or a quiet cafe before 10am when it's dead and grab a cheap coffee for a few hours of actual work.

Is that trick where someone pulls out their laptop in the common room and somehow ends up blasting TikTok's for three hours...?

Right, because nothing says "productive work session" like trying to focus while someone's explaining their entire 18-month backpacking itinerary two feet away.
